- After putting it off for nearly a month, I went in for a haircut. Good lord, did I need it. I was almost embarrassed at how dry, shapeless, and gross my hair had gotten. After a serious trim, the stylist took a ton of weight out of my hair. No one had done this for me in years, and sweetholyMoses is it ever awesome. I have some of the thickest hair of anyone I know, and it gets so heavy if allowed to grow unabated. It essentially weighs itself down and feels like a thick blanket on my head. I can actually comb it now!
- My veins are awesome and I am an exemplary patient (not squeamish or chicken-shit in the least), but I finally encountered someone who wasn’t able to get a proper blood draw out of me. I would post a picture of my arm, but I can barely stand to look at it. ::shudder:: Thank goodness it’s cold here now and I wear long sleeves all the time.
- HR is kind of dragging its feet (Land of Mañana!), but my colleagues are eager to get me in there asap. We’ve tentatively agreed that I’ll start late next week, after I sign my offer letter early next week. This is a great time for me because I know I’m not going to be perpetually unemployed, but I’m not yet working. I took myself out for a nice walk in the sunshine, lunch at my local bar, and a trip to the library. Then, I cooked a fantastic dinner for the spouse and me (seared salmon with dijon sauce, pimentón mashed potatoes, sautéed kale, and roasted acorn squash with cinnamon and red chile).
- We are developing quite the active social life here. If we wanted to, we could go out with friends 4-5 nights/week. Obviously we don’t, but having so many cool people in our lives has made being here even better. I don’t think either of us imagined that life would be so good so soon after moving, but we are immensely grateful.
